How And Where To Get Money For A Franchise Idea

how often have you thumbed through a business opportunity magazine, noticed a franchise opportunity advertisement, and felt you'd really like to get in on that... if only you had the money? If you're like most who are seeking greater opportunity and wealth, this probably happens with you more often than you care to admit, except perhaps in strictly private conversations.

When the average person sees one of these opportunities, or comes up with a similar idea of his own, the problems of start-up capital may seem formidable. But in reality, they may not be.

9 April 09 ' The Election' - Indonesia

9 april, Voting for Parliament election in Indonesia
according the lates information from kpu. result
intiated trickling in (12 april 09) , President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democratic Party coming in the lead with around 21 percent of votes. Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) headed by former President Megawati Sukarnoputri came second with around 15 percent; and the Golkar Party trailing third with nearly 14 percent. The religious-based Islamic Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) came fourth with around 8, 7 percent.

Other political outfits may managed to be in list of first 10 include the National Awakening Party, the National Mandate Party, the United Development Party, the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), and the People's Concience Party

Indonesia, South East Asia's biggest economy, have begun voting to elect a new Parliament. The main issue in voters' mind will be maintaining growth in the face of the global financial downturn alongwith corruption.

Nearly forty parties are contesting the election with the Democratic Party of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ahead in the polls. Yudhoyono's Democrat Party is expected to come out on top, but with more than 170 million people registered to vote and 38 parties to choose from, nothing is certain. Other front-runners are the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle headed by former President Megawati Sukarnoputri and the largest party, Golkar.

Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, emerged from 32 years of dictatorship under Gen. Suharto in 1998, leading to reforms that freed the media, abandoned repressive laws and, in 2000, allowed citizens to vote for president for the first time. For world it is classical case of Islam and democracy can go hand-in-hand.

Yudhoyono's party wins 26 percent of the popular vote, as some opinion polls predict, will be dauntless not to cobble together an alliance with others seen to be less willing to tackle corruption, overhaul the judiciary and streamline bureaucracy.

Ten Reasons Why We Blog in English

1. My English writing skill is not good. I’d like to improve it by writing regularly in a medium where editorial barrier is non-existent.

2. English is undoubtedly understood –though not necessarily spoken or written–by many, if not by most, influential people in the world. Hence larger audience, more visibility and influence of some sort.

3. Most internet-literate Indonesians understand English. Using English in my blog, therefore, does not hinder Indonesian readers to appreciate what I’d intend to convey to them, my primary audience.

4. Indonesian voices very much under-represented in the outside world simply because hardly any books, academic publication and conventional media are written in English. Indonesia — a country with more than 200 million population– has only one English newspaper, the Jakarta Post, and none of existing Indonesian magazines are in English. And hardly any best seller Indonesian books written by prominent intellectuals are written in or translated into English.

5. Among 10 percent of Indonesian internet users, only about 0.4 percent of them are blogging which means if you blog in Bahasa Indonesia you have to be satisfied with that of 0.4 percent readers who does not necessarily read your blog. Less potential readers will lead to less blogging courages.

6. It gives non-Indonesian a chance to know you and Indonesia: the mindset, culture, faith, etc. And it gives you more chance to interact with them. Hence, more understanding of multi-polar world and broaden your vista and horizon of thinking.

7. Depending on your blogging influence, but at the least it’ll give you more self-esteem by making more friends from various cultures accross the continents.

8. There are many people outthere with good intention to make an interfaith and intercultural dialogue; every now and then they need a person from particular country, say Indonesia, to talk to. Let them know that you are the person they want.

9. If your blog content is good, the possibility of being published and then reviewed by prominent international book reviewer is not far away.

10. Blogging in English, like blogging in any other languages including Bahasa Indonesia, is basically history in the making. The difference is by blogging in English you are making history in front of many faces and backgrounds from many countries and therefore it adds more to your credibility.

Introducing Asia

Asia sticks to you. The joss sticks lit for the household shrines in Thailand impart a sweet perfume to the thick air. The heavenly aroma of Indian spices follows you for days.

This is a spiritual place infused with the gods of past and present: the ancient spirits of the land and the family, the deities of Buddhism and Hinduism and the rules of Islam. Architectural wonders and sacred spaces abound from the Great Wall of China and the temples of Angkor to lesser known marvels in Myanmar, Nepal and Afghanistan.

Indonesia's election

The ruling Democratic Party is set to prosper

With just over two weeks to go before Indonesia's legislative elections on April 9th, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democratic Party (PD) has further extended its lead in opinion polls. If the PD performs as well as expected, it will be able to nominate Mr Yudhoyono as its presidential candidate without seeking coalition partners. Moreover, despite the worsening economic climate, Mr Yudhoyono is already firmly on track to win re-election later this year. The president will be pressed to defend the performance of his government during his campaign, but he lacks a credible challenger.

A recent survey by a local pollster, the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), found that 24% of voters intended to vote for the PD in April, compared with 17.3% for the opposition Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P) and 15.9% for Golkar, which is currently the largest party in the legislature and has been a cornerstone of Mr Yudhoyono's first-term administration. The same poll found that 50.3% of respondents would vote for Mr Yudhoyono, compared with only 18.5% favouring the PDI-P leader, Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is Mr Yudhoyono's closest challenger. This level of support would be enough to prevent the presidential election scheduled in July from going to a second-round run-off between the two leading candidates in September.

Significant support

The level of support currently enjoyed by the PD is significant for a number of reasons. First, parties must win 20% of the national vote to nominate their own presidential candidates. Given its current popularity, the PD will be able to nominate Mr Yudhoyono without being forced into a coalition arrangement. The alliance forged between the PD and Golkar in 2004 hampered reforms during Mr Yudhoyono's first term in office, owing to Golkar's conservative stance and the vested interests within its ranks. Many PD members are now entertaining the prospect of forming a second-term government without Golkar. However, should the PD's election performance prove less impressive than its current poll numbers, the party would probably continue its alliance with Golkar.

Mr Yudhoyono's high levels of support also suggest a wider range of options for his vice-presidential candidate, raising the likelihood that he will part company with Jusuf Kalla, the current vice-president and Golkar chairman. The president would also have a strong base of support in the legislature during his second term in office—an advantage that he consistently lacked in his first term. In the last legislative election the PD won just 10% of the seats.

Rumours that Mr Yudhoyono is considering alternative presidential candidates have placed pressure on Mr Kalla to stand as a candidate in his own right. Although the vice-president has stopped short of explicitly declaring his intentions, he has said repeatedly that he would be ready to accept the Golkar nomination, if it were offered to him. Mr Kalla does not enjoy the wide base of public support required to claim the presidency, and his best chance of prolonging his political career lies in maintaining his partnership with Mr Yudhoyono. However, pressure from within his party is currently such that the decision may be taken out of his hands.

Outlook

The Economist Intelligence Unit expects Mr Yudhoyono to be re-elected, but he will be on the defensive in the coming months as the economy goes through a recession and unemployment rises. The president's critics will also become more vocal on other aspects of his performance, with reform groups expressing frustration at the continued prevalence of corruption. Popular resentment of foreign involvement in the economy, particularly in the resources sector, is also on the rise. Mr Yudhoyono, a champion of foreign investors, could become a target for nationalist anger as the economy slows.

Nonetheless, there are a number of factors working in Mr Yudhoyono's favour. Most importantly, prices for a number of goods and services have fallen in recent months, which should ease much of the resentment created by increasing costs in 2008. Recent declines in global oil prices have permitted the president to lower subsidised fuel prices three times since December 1st. The disbursement of cash handouts to poor families as compensation for higher fuel prices has also boosted his popularity.

Last but not least, Mr Yudhoyono will benefit from the absence of a strong opponent. Ms Megawati may just have sufficient support to prevent Mr Yudhoyono from winning the 50% of the popular vote that he requires to secure the presidency in the first round in July. However, the PDI-P leader remains discredited outside of her main centres of support on the islands of Java and Bali, owing to her poor performance as president in 2001-04.

Borobudur - the biggest in the word

Borobudur is a ninth-century Mahayana Buddhist monument in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.[1] A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.

The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path circumambulating the monument while ascending to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). During the journey the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the wall and the balustrades.

Evidence suggests Borobudur was abandoned following the fourteenth century decline of Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms in Java, and the Javanese conversion to Islam.[2] Worldwide knowledge of its existence was sparked in 1814 by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the then British ruler of Java, who was advised of its location by native Indonesians. Borobudur has since been preserved through several restorations. The largest restoration project was undertaken between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, following which the monument was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[3] Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage; once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction.[4][5][6]

Google Friend Connect - New Social Network

Google has decided to enter the social networking game. Google announced the launch last weekend and has just opened up beta testing to a select number of people. I think this is a great move by Google and will quickly become a contender in this space.

Google Friend Connect is a service that helps website owners grow traffic by enabling any site on the web to easily provide social features for its visitors. any website owner can add a snippet of code to his or her site and get social features up and running immediately without programming — picking and choosing from built-in functionality like user registration, invitations, members gallery, message posting, and reviews, as well as third-party applications built by the OpenSocial developer community.

Google Friend Connect boasts the following high-level features:

  • Attract more visitors to your site - Visitors bring along friends from social networks like Facebook, orkut, and others to interact on your site.
  • Enrich your site with social features - Choose engaging social features from a catalog of gadgets provided by Google and the OpenSocial developer community.
  • No programming whatsoever - Just copy and paste snippets of code into your site, and Google Friend Connect does the rest.

There are a couple of demo sites already setup which you can test and interact with.
